What a song! It's an all-time classic, and it's one of those songs that seems to tell a story, or tell a life lesson. An emotional song, but damn is it good. Awesome solo section at the end as well, which Kirk nails in this video from the Mexico showin 2009.
Metallica are one of the world's biggest bands, and to celebrate this, I plan on sharing my favourite live performances with everyone. Have a look around and enjoy the music!

Disposable Heroes
Definitely one of the heavier Metallica songs. Fast-paced, with dark overtones throughout. Not a song I tend to listen to often, I must admit, but it is an absolute cracker, and what a solo too! This performance in particular was outstanding.
Whiskey in the Jar
A brillaint cover of Thin Lizzy's song. Metallica absolutely own it, and the Irish crowd go wild. I've sang this song many times during rock karaoke nights in pubs, and everyone sings along. A real song to bring people together and start a party!

The Unforgiven II
What a song! It's a deep, emotional track, and I love it. I just can't understand why it has only been played live once... It's more of a ballad than a thrashy Metallica song, but I think it is excellent. Here is the official music video, as the only live version, in my opinion, sucked. Hope you like it as much as I do.
Welcome Home (Sanitarium)
In my opinion, a more 'hardcore' Metallica song, but it's up there as one of my favourites. It's a dark song, but has a class solo at the end. This is a great performance from the Belfast show of the World Magnetic Tour, in 2010.
The Day that Never Comes
One of the singles released from Death Magnetic, this is one of my favourite songs off of the new album. Fast paced solo complemented by more calm verses. Great guitar work and drums. An awesome performance as well. Nimes must be an amazing venue to play in, it looks beautiful.
The Four Horsemen
From Kill Em' All, an epic song with a great rhythm, The Four Horsemen is a great track to get the crowd going. Brilliant tune! Also, a pretty beasting solo.

One
Great performance. One of my favourite Metallica songs. It was also one of the songs that got me into listening to Metallica, when I was playing Guitar Hero 3. Anyway, this is a fantastic, atmospheric performance. Hope you like it.
The Unforgiven III
Having listened to it over and over again on Death Magnetic, and having scoured over Youtube looking for live performances of the song, Metallica finally played The Unforgiven III live in Oslo, Norway on 14th April 2010. It was definitely worth the wait!
What a solo...

Blackened
An actual classic for me is Metallica's Blackened performance in Nimes in 2009. It's an absolute beast of a song, and has an awesome solo. Check it out.

Nothing Else Matters
The first song that got me liking Metallica was Nothing Else Matters. You can really feel the emotion in the song and it all builds up steadily to the end solo, which is awesome!
The best performance of the song I've seen so far is from a concert in Seattle from 2000. Hope you like it.

Fade to Black
My favourite ever song is Metallica's Fade to Black. It's just a brillaint song, with slow and fast sections and an awesome solo to cap it all off. Plus, when they play it live, they tend to pause in the middle of the song to get the crowd going, which I love to see.
Here is my favourite performance of the song so far. Enjoy!

Seek and Destroy!!!
One of my favourite Metallica videos is Seek and Destroy from the Mexico City concert in 2009.
